Key changes at SFA and NAS

Two key figures in the world of skills have announced that they will be leaving their posts this year: Geoff Russell, Chief Executive of the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) will be going back to retirement at the end of July; and Simon Waugh, Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), has completed his 3-year contract and will be leaving at the end of March.

Following a government review, it was recently announced that the SFA would become an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), subject to the necessary legislation. The NAS will continue to sit within the SFA.

This change is said not to affect functions or staffing structures, so we assume that Messrs Russell and Waugh will be replaced in due course.
