The Goodison Group
In 1998 FEdS established this influential, wide-ranging discussion group with Sir Nicholas Goodison, the former deputy chairman of Lloyds TSB and supported by the then Secretary of State at the DfEE, David Blunkett. It acted as unofficial sounding board on the development of lifelong learning initiatives for the government, engaging more than 320 organisations, running 23 seminars and publishing 25 papers. The Group was funded by Lloyds TSB and closed in 2006.
Goodison Group in Scotland
In 2005, the Goodison Group in Scotland was established under the chairmanship of Sir Andrew Cubie as the Scottish branch of the Goodison Group. It is now closely aligned to the Scottish Parliament’s Futures Forum and is also working with Young Scot. Its work has been sponsored by RBS, ScottishPower and the Lloyds Banking Group. In May 2011 the formal association between FEdS and Goodison Group in Scotland ended although interest in each other’s work continues and Goodison Group reports can be read here.
