Elaine’s career has spanned the private, public, academic and not-for-profit sectors, but always with some connection – however tenuous – to professional development or education. Three years in a trade organisation in Paris were followed by a stint as administrator of The 300 Group, which campaigned for more women in Parliament. She then moved into the highly competitive world of commercial conferences, organising events on tax, property and environmental law. During 8 years with the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry, she helped move the organisation from offering short courses to personalised, accredited learning programmes for major companies, and gained a Masters of Education at the same time. She also helped establish the Prince of Wales Business & the Environment Programme. A move into the civil service provided a varied portfolio of policy roles in employment, higher education, apprenticeships and finally the 14-19 Reform Programme. She is now running her own consultancy, using her varied skills to bring together business, education and government.
